I used to do High Five For Friday, but I just can’t keep up with the posts during the week to have a fresh Friday post. This blog works best if I schedule posts and then monitor them throughout the week. Instead I’m going to share 5 awesome things from my previous week. They may be FB or twitter posts, things I find around the internet, etc, but none-the-less things that I find interesting or funny or both. 🙂
“I just tried to figure out why the computer monitor wasn’t working….it was off.”
Oh, yes, yes I did.
How do I kill a phone battery so fast? It only took 26 rounds of #TsumTsum to finish my mission this morning. #Gaming#Disney
I don’t know how many of you have heard about Jamberry nails, but I finally had an opportunity to try them out in February. Application was really easy (and I’m a klutz, so I was really worried I’d screw them up somehow) and they withstood everything I threw at them. I took a photo of days 1-7 — I had to combine days 6 & 7 because I forgot on day 6 — and created a draft complete with captions on my phone. Well, captions on the phone apparently don’t transfer over to the website because my images are here, but the captions have disappeared. So, rest assured I abused the crap out of my hands like usual and these things withstood it all! This includes dish-washing, lifting heavy objects, pre-schooler wrangling, dog handling, laundry, cleaning, mopping, etc. The best news is that these come out to about $7.50 per use, so they’re really affordable and fun.
So, enjoy my lil’ slide show and if you’re interested in these awesome products, visit my sister-in-laws site here. 🙂
What have I been reading?? I think I may make my novel reading a monthly recap since I don’t really remember to review anything anymore. Haha.
The Walking Dead – Volume 10 – Robert Kirkman If you love the show, there is absolutely no reason why you won’t love the comics as well. I prefer to purchase them in these volumes. You get a few extras in the back which includes insights to limited edition art they have done for various events or to mark something tremendous happening in the books. I absolutely love them and this volume was no exception. Spoiler alert: If you think the television show leaves you hanging, the comics are even worse!!!
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone – JK Rowling The first in my “reread of Harry Potter” for obvious reasons. I apparently forgot 95% of what happened in this book so it was like reading it for the first time. I forgot about pretty much everything except for the Sorting Hat, the school is called Hogwarts, AND the main characters. Who the heck is Quirrell? I didn’t know!! If you haven’t read the series, or haven’t in awhile, I suggest you pick it up!
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets – JK Rowling My current novel. The boys just “made a crash” at Hogwarts.
(I’ve been coordinating my re-read with completion of the books on Pottermore, which I covered here. Come join me.)
Watchers– Dean Koontz I’ve attempted to read this book twice now. I might just be successful this time. It has a dog in it which is always awesome, a mystery, and a bit of a lost soul.
So, there you have it: My January recap. What books have you been reading???
For those of you curious about this stuff, Jude received it for his birthday and…WOW! I’ve got to say I’ll be buying some Kinetic Sand for some of the kiddos on my Christmas List!! This stuff is like sand meets cotton candy meets the Non-Newtonian elements of cornstarch and water. I mean, this is like a geeky mom’s walk in heaven right here.
The best part of Kinetic Sand is that it’s virtually mess free (unless your kid scatters it across the kitchen) and it doesn’t stick to their hands. There’s quite a selection of BRIGHT colors, but there’s also brown. Jude received a kit that included a “sand box” and a few molds — I’d suggest this just to contain it, or even a large Tupperware container would work so you could just put a lid on it and put it away at the end of play. This is seriously the closest you’ll get to going to the beach without the mess, which made this mommy very happy!!
Jude really loves this stuff because he can mold something really easily, unlike when we go to the beach. He doesn’t quite have the dexterity to get the beach sand cleanly out of the molds which seems to frustrate him sometimes, but this isn’t the case with Kinetic sand. Not only can he get the sand out easily, he can actually touch the molded sand without it falling apart. This is a great toy!
Thanks for reading,
P.S. No, I’m not being paid for this endorsement, I just think this is an awesome toy and activity for little ones! And big ones! I’ve played with this about as much as Jude has today. Haha.
Readers, I’m in pain! And it’s the type of pain I know is going to get worse and I’m just at the tip of the iceberg so the next few days look mighty unappealing. I’ve blogged about this issue before (click that link if you dare — it’s not pretty and probably best not viewed by those under the age of 18) and hadn’t had a bit of issue since the Saturday before Jude was born…until this week. And it’s angry. Oh boy is it angry! So, I have a doctor’s appointment set up in the morning and I’m hoping an operation Friday. I want this resolved. I have a toddler. I DO NOT have time for this crap!
Anyway, onto the Geekery…because it helps to distract away from the pain.
I know many friends of mine are crazy Candy-Crush addicts. Don’t deny it. You are. My request box is full of Candy Crush stuff, so I have evidence you just cannot deny. I am onto you! Did you know that King is suing smaller developers over the use of “saga.” Sound impossible? It’s not. Read this and leave your thoughts!
Personally, I feel this is trademark law gone seriously awry! Such as, my destination was Las Vegas and I ended up in Orlando, awry. So awry, we may be in rye bread territory.
