5 Years!

5 year

Dang!! Five years? Thanks for sticking around everyone!! I’m stuck at home waiting for FedEx to bring my replacement phone (I dropped “ol’ trusty” and ended up hitting a corner on our ancient stove which broke the screen), so I have plenty of time to do laundry and blog before “delivery by end of day.” Great day of opportunity to catch up!

Thanks for reading,

2014 in review

Hi, folks!

I’m still around, just life has been a little crazy. I have lots of stuff coming up for this blog: the return of Quotes of the Week, 2014 family day trips, book reviews, and the return of gaming. I’ve been gaming quite a bit since I received the Sims 4 from my awesome inlaws for Christmas! In the meantime, here’s my 2014 year end report.

Thanks for reading,
Katie ☙

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 640 times in 2014. If it were a cable car, it would take about 11 trips to carry that many people.

2013 In Review

I’m always curious to see how other blogs perform and I’m quite proud of how far this blog has come this year. I’m looking forward to seeing how far it will come this year as I don’t plan on taking any breaks since I’ll be mostly commitment free!! A year of freedom! Yay me!

So, without further delay:

Here’s an excerpt:

A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 1,200 times in 2013. If it were a cable car, it would take about 20 trips to carry that many people.

100 WP Followers!

imageGosh! I’m blushing over here, I really am! 100 of you WordPress readers have liked me enough to stick around. ♥ I’m always curious to know about the numbers on other’s blogs, so here’s some stats on mine:

  • Comments: 271, 69 of which are mine.
  • Most searched term: Life. However, I’m going to suggest that anyone that wants hits to their blog to tag something “Rhett Butler.” I have seen that pop up more than anything over the years. (Okay, admit it. You searched for Rhett Butler didn’t you?!)
  • Most views in a single day: 51. I have NO idea what happened that day either, nor how to replicate it. My average is about 1-5 views per day and I get giddy when I crest over 10.
  • Total lifetime views 2,814.
  • Top 3 countries that are reading: USA, the UK and Canada.

Thanks to everyone that is reading. I hope I’ve brought a little sunshine and laughter into your days!

Happy 100!!

Funny how when you’re not really paying attention to milestones how they kinda sneak up on you as this one did. 100 posts. Wow. That’s just unbelievable. I love how my blog has become a small community of sorts and how many of you are starting to give me feed back. Many comments have been from friends, but more are coming from kind fellow bloggers which is really exciting to me!!

Here’s some facts:

  • Ye Olde Humdrum is composed of 7 pages, most of which were created just a few weeks ago while I reorganized and decluttered my blog. Feel free to browse about and even bake off some blueberry muffins (recipe found here).
  • There are 15 categories – the newest being Quote of The Week.
  • 473 tags have been used so far, and I must be getting better at utilizing them because more people are coming to the site and I’m gaining some more awesome followers. Yes…you’re awesome!
  • There have been 159 comments (most of which are from me, ha!) and 1,176 spam comments have been made and filtered out.

So, there you have it. Some stats at 100 posts!! Ugh, okay. I should probably get back to my Anthropology reading that I was supposed to be doing for the past hour. Procrastination has been a real issue this week, but there’s so many more fun things to do on the internet!!!

Another Milestone….

wordpress anniversaryYup, that’s right, WordPress. Traditionally we’d give each other leather for the third anniversary – which may or may not be a fun time. 😉 Modern gifts would be crystal, glass or pearls.

Ye Olde Humdrum has come quite a ways in 3 years. The first year I barely used the site due to the fact I reserved it mostly for book reviews. (First post: click here!) The second year brought more of the same and some pregnancy related blogging, and then this past year is when things became interesting with the birth and raising of Nibbler and the moving of my book reviews to Ye Olde Bookshelf. Year four is going to bring a little more geekiness here.

So, keep reading – we’re going to keep evolving over here. 🙂
