Toddler Art

imageI really do try to find activities for Trubba to do that are different on a daily basis. It doesn’t mean that there’s a new activity everyday, but there may be something we didn’t do yet this week each day at least. I saw this idea on Pinterest and thought it would be something that a toddler such as he would enjoy.

Wrong.

What this art project is, is two different colored paints put in opposite sides of a zip lock, sealed with as little air left inside as possible and then taped to the floor or table so that the child can smoosh (isn’t “smoosh” a cool word?) it around inside and see how the colors blend and what new colors are created. They can also draw shapes in it if they’re artistic or write letters and such just by using their fingers. I thought this would be an awesome texture thing for Trubba and since he’s screaming YELLOW at everything I figured it may be an excellent way to expose him to more colors.

Once again….denied.

He literally touches it for about zero point eight seconds and then runs onto the next activity of his choosing. The thing that does keep his attention for more than a few seconds at a time is his ball pit – something I fabricated out of an inflatable wading pool on closeout and a cheap bag of balls from ToysRUs. (Yes, there is such a thing as a cheap item at that chain. You just have to be mighty selective!)

So, if your toddler beast is an active child like mine, skip the art project. Stick to the basics and buy a cheap wading pool and a bag of balls for hours of entertainment instead.

There also a new-ish post over at Ye Olde Bookshelf too: Until Tuesday. Also, please help Leira! She only has 9 more days to meet her goal! ♥
